Sanders on WaPost: Those ‘geniuses’ backed Iraq War
Hours after The Washington Post penned a scathing editorial about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), calling his campaign for the White House fiction, the Democratic presidential hopeful defended his campaign platform and slammed the newspaper’s editorial board for its past support for the Iraq War, according to a Post report.
{mosads}During a Bloomberg Politics breakfast, Sanders said of the Post, “check out where all the geniuses on the editorial page were with regard to the invasion of Iraq.”
The editorial on Thursday accused him of telling liberal voters what they wanted to hear, and said that Sanders needs “a reality check.”
“Mr. Sanders is not a brave truth-teller,” the editorial stated. “He is a politician selling his own brand of fiction to a slice of the country that eagerly wants to buy it.”
Sanders shot back, saying that the paper was repeating an argument that his campaign has been refuting for months.
