Cruz on support from Graham: God ‘can still do miracles’
Ted Cruz joked that support of his presidential bid from Senate colleague Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who as a rival candidate had been a vocal opponent, is nothing short of a miracle.
The presidential hopeful told the crowd Monday at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Washington that Graham’s support is an act of God, referencing some of the religion’s early figures.
“Just today, my colleague Lindsey Graham very kindly hosted an event for me here, which should allay any doubts anyone might have that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob can still do miracles,” Cruz said.
Graham, who opposes Cruz’s chief rival, Donald Trump, held a meet-and-greet for his fellow senator.
But Graham has repeatedly been critical of Cruz in the past, going as far to crack a joke that Cruz was so unpopular he could be killed on the Senate floor without repercussions.
