Rubio eyes April 13 as campaign launch date: report
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) may have chosen April 13 as the date to launch a presidential bid.
The Miami Herald is reporting Rubio may be planning to announce his candidacy at an event in downtown Miami’s Freedom Tower on that date.
{mosads}It is one of several venues Rubio is considering, according to the Herald.
It would be less than a week after Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) expected candidacy announcement April 7.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) became the first major candidate to officially announce a 2016 bid earlier this week.
Rubio has struggled in polls so far. He ranks seventh among GOP contenders with 5 percent support, according to a polling average by RealClearPolitics.
