Romney: ‘No legit reason’ Trump can’t release tax returns

Mitt Romney on Thursday night kept up his attacks on GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump for not publicly releasing his tax returns.

{mosads}“No legit reason @realDonaldTrump can’t release returns while being audited, but if scared, release earlier returns no longer under audit,” he tweeted during the GOP debate in Houston, hosted by CNN.

Trump argued during the debate that he cannot release his tax returns while he is under audit.

“Obviously if I’m getting audited, I’m not going to release a return,” the billionaire said. “I think people understand that. As soon as the audit is done, I love it.”

Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, began calling for public scrutiny of Trump’s tax records on Wednesday, suggesting a “bombshell” lurks in his paperwork.

Trump responded that he is “no rush” and has complex business dealings, adding that Romney is “a fool” for how he handled the issue during his own White House run.
