Trump: ‘I’m becoming mainstream’
Donald Trump said Sunday that his campaign is becoming “mainstream” after a surge of high-profile endorsements, including his first from a sitting senator.
“I hate to say it: I’m becoming mainstream, all these people are endorsing me,” Trump said at a rally in Huntsville, Alabama, where he received the support of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).
{mosads}“When I get Jeff Sessions, that means a lot to me,” Trump said, noting this is Sessions’s first-ever presidential endorsement in his decades-long career.
Trump’s victory lap comes two days before Super Tuesday — a make-or-break moment for his GOP competitors, as 11 states will head to the polls.
“We’re going to win so big,” Trump said of the key primary day. “We’re leading in every single state, and we’re almost leading in Texas. I have a feeling we’re going to win Texas also.”
The GOP presidential front-runner earned his first congressional endorsements last week, which were followed by the bombshell from Trump’s former rival New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Friday. The same day, Trump was backed by Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R), who had previously endorsed Christie.
