A Fox News spokesperson on Friday slammed GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump for calling for a boycott of anchor Megyn Kelly’s show on the network.

“Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

{mosads}“Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America – we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults. As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable television, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job.”

Trump on Friday asked his supporters to tune out on “The Kelly File,” escalating his ongoing feud with Kelly and her employers.

Trump’s public plea immediately drew backlash from Kelly’s media colleagues, several of whom leapt to defend her.

Kelly outraged Trump by sharply interrogating him over his past remarks toward women during the first GOP presidential debate last August.

Trump accused the news anchor of being biased against him, citing her questioning about phrases like “fat pigs” and “bimbos” as evidence she was aiming to discredit him.

The real estate tycoon has since repeatedly sparred with Kelly, even skipping a separate Republican debate in Des Moines two months ago over her inclusion as a moderator.
