Walker: Wis. primary will come down to wire between Cruz and Trump

Former presidential candidate Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) said that his state’s primary will come down to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

{mosads}“Well I think it’ll be a tight race, and it’s one where it’s really boiled down to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz,” he said in a radio interview with John Catsimatidis.

“You’ve got John Kasich who’s still been campaigning in the state, as well, but I think most voters realize mathematically – John’s a good guy, I’ve known him for some time, we’re fellow governors – it’s either Trump or Cruz who got a chance to get the 1,237 votes that are needed by the convention.”

Walker also said that he would make an endorsement in the race a few days before Wisconsin’s primary on April 5.

The Wisconsin governor added that the race in his state was likely to come down to wire between Trump and Cruz, but said that Cruz will win if enough Kasich supporters are serious about stopping Trump.

“I think for a number of those voters, they’ll say well if their vote is not going to get him to be the winner come the convention, where do they want to cast, and my guess is that if a fair number of them break off it might actually help Cruz get over the hump,” Walker said.
