‘Families have to be off-limits,’ Kasich says

Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich in an interview broadcast Sunday bemoaned the state of the 2016 GOP race, saying “families have to be off-limits.”

{mosads}“I mean, you cannot get these attacks on families,” the Ohio governor said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“If this becomes the order of the day, what kind of people are we going to have in the future that are going to run for public office?” Kasich asked.

Kasich’s comments follow a week during which GOP rivals Donald Trump and Ted Cruz attacked each other over their wives as the race turned even nastier.

“There’s got to be some rules, and there’s got to be something that gets set there. Some decency,” he said.

Kasich was noncommittal when asked if he would support Trump if the real estate mogul wins the GOP nomination.

“We’re going to look at it every single day, and we’ll see what happens,” Kasich said. “We’ve got a long way to go. And I don’t want to project that he’s going to be the nominee. I don’t think he will be.”
