Clinton knocks Trump in New York campaign ad

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is going directly after Donald Trump, her Republican counterpart, in New York ahead of the state’s primary.

{mosads}The new campaign ad opens with Clinton speaking about the diversity of the city, contrasting it with Trump’s rhetoric on illegal immigration and Muslims.

“New York, 20 million people strong. No, we don’t all look the same. We don’t all sound the same, either,” Clinton says over images of students, a shopkeeper and others.

“But when we pull together, we do the biggest things in the world,” Clinton adds over images of firefighters and the One World Trade Center being erected.

As she speaks, a sign flashes across the screen showing “Trump: 2016,” similar to ones outside Trump’s hotel project in Washington, D.C. Other images include a woman wearing an American flag head covering and footage of a man punching an African-American protester in the face at a Trump rally in March.

“So when some say we can solve America’s problems by building walls, banning people based on their religion and turning against each other, well, this is New York, and we know better,” Clinton says.

Clinton, who is still battling Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for the Democratic nomination, is taking aim at the businessman and fellow New Yorker three weeks out from the April 19 primary as Trump looks to fend off GOP rival Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas).
