Trump fires back: Cruz ‘has to sell himself’ to GOP ‘bosses’

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is not letting up in his attacks against rival Ted Cruz and the primary process, tweeting early Monday that the Texas senator “has to sell himself” to GOP “bosses” because he “can’t win with the voters.”

“I am millions of VOTES ahead. Hillary would destroy him & K,” he added, referring to Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and GOP hopeful John Kasich.

Trump early Sunday said Cruz “can’t get the votes,” so he has to “get his delegates from the Republican bosses.”

{mosads}Cruz later told Trump in a tweet to stop “whining.”

Cruz noted that Trump lost contests in Utah, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Colorado and Wyoming, where 1.3 million people voted.

“You lost ALL FIVE in a row, by huge margins,” he added.

Cruz shut Trump out of delegates in Colorado and Wyoming, sparking the latest exchanges. Republican parties in both states decided to award delegates via county and state conventions instead of by primary or caucus.   

Trump leads Cruz and Kasich by approximately 10 points nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

He also has 755 delegates compared with Cruz’s 559 and Kasich’s 144. At least 1,237 delegates are necessary for avoiding a contested Republican National Convention in July.
