Poll: Trump leads by 14 points in Maryland
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has a double-digit lead in Maryland, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey.
Trump has 43 percent support, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich, with 29 percent, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, with 24 percent.
{mosads}Among GOP voters in the state, Trump has a favorable rating of 57 percent and an unfavorable rating of 37 percent. Kasich has a favorable rating of 48 percent, and Cruz is viewed favorably by just 33 percent of GOP voters.
Maryland’s primary is next Tuesday, April 26.
If the race were between just two candidates, Trump would still have a sizable advantage over both of his competitors.
About 90 percent of Trump voters also say they’re definitely voting for the front-runner, while only 53 percent of Kasich voters and 49 percent of Cruz voters say they’re committed to their decision.
Trump is leading with men and women and in every age group. He also leads in most of the areas of the state. Kasich is leading among moderates.
In head-to-head match-ups, all three Republican candidates would lose to both Democratic presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The poll was conducted among 879 Maryland voters from April 15 to 17. The margin of error for the whole sample was 3.3 percentage points. The poll included 310 likely Republican primary voters with a margin of error of 5.7 percentage points.
