Poll: Trump, Clinton in statistical tie
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in a statistical tie in a head-to-head match-up for the presidency, a new national poll released Wednesday finds.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll showed Clinton with 41 percent support to Trump’s 40 percent. Nineteen percent of voters are still undecided.
{mosads}Trump is surging as the GOP’s presumptive nominee since Ted Cruz and John Kasich exited race. Last week, Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, led Trump by about 13 points in the same poll.
Polls are showing a race between Trump and Clinton tightening in recent days.
The two are neck and neck in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, a Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday found.
But Democrats are brushing off polls showing Clinton in a dead heat with Trump, citing his low approval ratings with important groups like Hispanics and casting doubt on polls conducted at this point in the cycle.
The poll was conducted from May 6 to 10 and surveyed 1,289 likely voters online. The margin of error was 3 percentage points.
