Poll: Small convention bump for Trump

Donald Trump didn’t experience a sizable post-convention bump, a new survey released Tuesday finds.

{mosads}A new NBC News/SurveyMonkey online poll found that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads the GOP nominee by 1 point, 46 percent to 45 percent, the same as in last week’s poll.

But in a four-way contest with Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein, Trump holds a 2-point lead over Clinton, 41 percent to 39 percent. Johnson gets 10 percent and Stein takes 5 percent.

The survey comes after Trump overtook Clinton in an average of head-to-head national polls for the first time since May on Monday. He leads the former secretary of State by a razor-thin margin of 0.2 points. His bump in the polls comes after he officially accepted the GOP nomination last week in Cleveland.

The NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll also found that following Trump’s acceptance speech at the convention, 37 percent of voters said it didn’t change their impression of the Republican Party and 36 percent had a less favorable view of the party. About a quarter of voters view the party more favorably.

The poll was conducted July 18–24 and surveyed 12,931 registered voters online. The margin of error was 1.2 percentage points.
