Trump blasts Dems for not addressing ISIS at convention

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump blasted the Democratic Party on Tuesday, saying “they really established” the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by failing to address the group on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

{mosads}Reading off a teleprompter during a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Tuesday, Trump called for a realignment of the nation’s foreign policy. He then appeared to veer off script to hammer Democrats for ignoring ISIS on Monday.

“We need to change our foreign policy to focus on defeating and destroying ISIS — a word you didn’t hear last night at the Democrat convention,” Trump said. “You didn’t hear it. They don’t want to talk about it, because in a very true way, they really established ISIS — because of weakness.”

Trump also accused presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of trying to downplay the scandals and poor care at Veterans Affairs hospitals.

“It’s like she’s trying to sweep it under the rug,” he said.

He blasted her for using a private email server as secretary of State and for her handling of the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

The attacks on Clinton prompted some audience members to shout, “Lock her up.”

Trump responded: “And to think she was here yesterday. I guess she didn’t do very well.”
