New Clinton ads draw contrasts with Trump on economy

Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Wednesday launched two new TV ads in battleground states that take aim at Donald Trump for outsourcing jobs, while touting the Democratic nominee’s job-creation plan.

{mosads}The first ad, titled “Someplace,” features clips of one of Trump’s past late night show appearances, where David Letterman notes that products in Trump’s clothing line were made in Bangladesh and China.

“If Trump is serious about ‘making America great again,’ he should start by making his products in America,” Clinton’s campaign tweeted.

The second ad, titled “How To,” focuses on Clinton’s strategy to create more jobs by getting big corporations to pay “their fair share” in taxes and make companies that move overseas pay an exit tax.

The two ads will run starting this week in “battleground states,” though the campaign didn’t specify the exact states.

During her bus tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio with her running mate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) last week, Clinton trumpeted her jobs plan and knocked the GOP nominee for manufacturing products with his name in countries abroad.

The tour and ads come as Trump has zeroed in on the Rust Belt states, where his message seems to be resonating with working-class voters.

Clinton has seen a bump in the polls since last week’s Democratic convention in Philadelphia, but she’s facing a tighter-than-expected race against Trump in the general election.
