Clinton hits Trump on overseas manufacturing
Hillary Clinton on Wednesday hit GOP White House hopeful Donald Trump for producing his products overseas, listing 100 domestic companies that could manufacture Trump-brand items.
{mosads}Clinton’s campaign found American manufacturers of ties, furniture, frames and barware and compared those firms with the foreign manufacturers of the billionaire businessman’s products.
“Despite his repeated claim and desire to put ‘America First,’ time and time again Donald Trump has told us he has to manufacture his products abroad. He says ‘it’s very hard to have apparel made in this country,’ or that ‘they don’t even make the stuff here. It’s so hard to get.’ No, Donald. Just no,” the Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign said.
A page on her campaign’s website includes three detailed maps with locations of potential manufacturers across the United States.
“We can see how time consuming multiple bankruptcies and scamming small businesses must be, but really Donald, this is a pretty glaring oversight. It didn’t take us long to find more than 100 examples of U.S. manufacturers and businesses ready and able to produce the same goods he makes overseas.”
The campaign found 25 domestic producers for ties that Trump now makes in China, 61 domestic producers of frames and furniture that are manufactured in India and Europe, and 12 domestic manufacturers of barware that is currently produced in Slovenia.
