Trump: Campaign has never been so united
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday fought back against reports of dissension in his campaign, saying his team is more united than ever.
“I just want to tell you the campaign is doing really well, it’s never been so well united,” Trump said as he began a campaign rally at Daytona Beach, Fla.
{mosads}”We started on June 16 [of 2015], I would say right now it’s the best in terms of being united that it’s been since we began.”
Trump rankled conservatives Tuesday evening by declining to endorse Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their reelection campaigns, both of whom have backed Trump for president.
He has also drawn controversy for his criticism of Khizr Kahn, the father of a Muslim American soldier who was killed in the Iraq War in 2004.
Reports emerged Wednesday that top Republicans, including Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, are planning an “intervention” in the hopes of putting the Trump campaign back on track.
