Kaine releases letter from doctor declaring his ‘excellent health’
Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), released a letter from his doctor on Wednesday amid growing calls for transparency from both presidential candidates.
The letter from Dr. Brian Monahan, Kaine’s physician, states that the senator is in “overall excellent health” with no serious illnesses.
{mosads}”I performed your most recent physical examination on February 12, 2016 when you were 57 years old.. .. Your general physical and mental health examination was normal including blood pressure 120/81 mmGh, and pulse of 71,” Monahan wrote.
“You are in overall excellent health and active in your professional work, and physical fitness endeavors without limitation. I recommend that you add a daily vitamin D supplement of 1000 Units per day to your diet,” the letter concludes.
Hillary Clinton also released her medical records on Wednesday in an attempt to quiet speculation about her health following an incident on Sunday where she nearly fainted. Clinton’s doctor said she is suffering from pneumonia but is recovering nicely.
“My overall impression is that Mrs. Clinton has remained healthy and has not developed new medical conditions this year other than a sinus and ear infection and her recently diagnosed pneumonia,” wrote Dr. Lisa Bardack.
“She continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as President of the United States.”
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, meanwhile, surprised the audience of “The Dr. Oz Show” on Wednesday by giving Mehmet Oz two letters summarizing a recent physical exam.
Reporters were not granted access to the taping of the show, which will air Thursday.
