Trump says he won’t bring up ‘Bill Clinton’s past’ at debate
Donald Trump said in an interview published Thursday that he will not bring up former President Bill Clinton’s infidelity at the next presidential debate, despite threatening to do so after a shaky performance in the first debate.
{mosads}“I want to win this election on my policies for the future, not on Bill Clinton’s past,” Trump told Page Six. “Jobs, trade, ending illegal immigration, veteran care, and strengthening our military is what I really want to be talking about.”
Ahead of the first debate, on Sept. 26, Trump said that he would invite Gennifer Flowers, a woman who has claimed to have had an affair with the former president, in order to unnerve Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Candice Jackson, a lawyer for a number of women who have accused Bill Clinton of rape or sexual harassment, told Page Six that she is trying to get her clients into the debates but received no help from the Trump campaign.
“Gennifer was willing to go and wanted to go, but never got a ticket,” she said. “Trump talked about having her there, but there was no follow-through.”
