Former Sanders aide praises Brazile
Bernie Sanders’s former national press secretary offered praise to Donna Brazile after leaked emails showed the former CNN contributor apparently trying to tip off the Hillary Clinton campaign about an upcoming debate question.
{mosads}A WikiLeaks dump of hacked emails from the account of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta appeared to show Brazile, now the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, sharing a question with top Clinton aides.
“I can’t speak to what she did or didn’t send to Clinton people. All I can speak to is the relationship our camp had with her,” Symone Sanders told Politico.
Sanders and Clinton fought a closer-than-expected race for the party’s presidential nomination earlier this year.
“During the primary, Donna regularly reached out for messaging guidance from us and was very helpful. She was even handed and we all had a great working relationship with her.
“Clearly the same can’t be said about our campaign and other people in the Party. Donna Brazile is one of the reasons the Democratic National Committee was able to move forward following the convention and she is the reason many people like myself have a seat at the table today.”
In a March 5 email to Podesta, Brazile mentions an upcoming question. Clinton debated Sanders in Flint, Mich., on March 6.
“One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash,” Brazile wrote in the March email.
“Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint.”
CNN announced Monday that the network accepted Brazile’s resignation on Oct. 14.
