Putin congratulates Trump
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential election, reiterating hopes that both countries can work together during Trump’s administration.
{mosads}According to an official Kremlin statement, Putin sent a personal message to Trump, congratulating him for winning the election. It states:
“In his message, Putin expressed a hope for joint efforts in directing Russo-American relations from a state of crisis, solving daily questions of international importance, and finding answers to questions of global security.
“President of Russia also expressed certainty that constructive dialogue between Russia and Washington that is based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and real consideration of each other’s interest, is in the true interest of our people and the world community as a whole.”
Throughout Trump’s presidential campaign, Putin lauded the positive message of bilateral relations articulated by the Republican nominee.
Multiple intelligence agencies also accused Russia of attempting to influence U.S. elections by hacking communications of numerous Democratic Party officials and leaking them to the press.
