Republican wins La. runoff money race

Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) pulled in about a half-million dollars more than incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) over the last month, Federal Election Commission records show.

Landrieu raised $1.5 million ahead of their runoff, while Cassidy pulled in $2.1 million from Oct. 16 to Nov. 16.

The FEC posted a letter on its website on Wednesday warning the Cassidy campaign that its filing was late, but the campaign produced a FedEx receipt showing the documents were delivered on Monday and provided them to The Hill.

{mosads}Cassidy spent almost $4 million in that period and has $1.3 million on hand. Landrieu spent $2.6 million and is down to her last $800,000.

Landrieu does have a couple of high-profile fundraisers in the near future that could boost her coffers. Musician Stevie Wonder will perform on her behalf at a fundraiser in Louisiana on Dec. 1, and Hillary Clinton will host a fundraiser in New York City for Landrieu on the same day.

Still, Cassidy leads Landrieu in every poll ahead of the their runoff election. Landrieu is also being heavily outspent by Republicans and outside groups on the airwaves in Louisiana.
