John Kerry fist bumps Snoop Dogg after White House chat
Secretary of State John Kerry is in the midst of trying to jumpstart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, overseeing the dismantling of Syria’s chemical weapons, and carrying out a nuclear deal with Iran. But earlier this month he took a moment to meet with a world figure not involved in these efforts: Snoop Dogg.
The moment was captured in a video posted on Snoop Dogg’s Instagram page Thursday night.
He and the secretary are seen, dressed in tuxedos, chatting at a White House party for the winners of the Kennedy Center Honors.
Before walking away, Kerry initiates a fist bump.
The video is accompanied in the post by the words, “Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc.”
With the use of a hashtag, the rapper appears be referencing his latest studio album, “Reincarnated.” He also appears to have mixed up the #kch hashtag for the Kennedy Center Honors.
The pair appear to be discussing jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, one of the honorees. “He invented your whole thing,” Kerry says.
“He invented hip-hop,” Snoop Dogg, now known as Snoop Lion, responds. “That’s why it only makes sense.”
After the video was posted, Kerry wrote on Twitter, referring to the number of albums the rapper has sold:
Between us we’ve sold 30 million-JK @SnoopDogg: “Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc http://t.co/cJgfBQgevx”
