Palin ridicules Obama lawsuit
Sarah Palin is ridiculing Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) lawsuit against President Obama as bringing a “lawsuit to a gunfight.”
“The one tool they have are articles of impeachment. Let’s get going on that,” she told Sean Hannity Tuesday night on Fox News. “And it is not necessarily, Sean, a lawsuit being filed by Congress, because you don’t bring a lawsuit to a gunfight. There is no place for lawyers on the frontline. Where are the front lines in America? They are our borders.”
{mosads}Palin, a former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, wrote an op-ed Tuesday accusing Obama of impeachable offenses that can no longer be ignored, specifically citing the flood of children crossing the border.
During the interview, she said impeachment would show Obama he is “not an imperial president.”
Palin said that any member who does not support impeachment should be opposed. But she admitted Congress is unlikely to follow her lead.
“That they don’t have the cojones to do it,” she said. “If that is what you mean, Sean, you are absolutely right.”
Last month, Boehner announced he would bring a lawsuit against the president for overstepping his executive authority. He specifically noted the effort was not about impeachment.
“This is not about impeachment,” Boehner said at the time. “This is about his faithfully executing the laws of our country.”
Boehner has not been specific about the charges but has noted that Obama has overstepped his authority on healthcare, energy, foreign policy and education issues. He has not specifically mentioned immigration.
