CNN fires back at Trump: We’ll keep doing our jobs, he should do his

CNN fired back at President Trump on Sunday morning over a doctored video he posted of himself pummeling the network.

A spokesperson for the cable news network condemned the video, saying: “it is a sad day when the President of the United State encourages violence against reporters.”

CNN’s public relations Twitter account also shared a quote from White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in a briefing last week when she said Trump had never promoted violence.

“‘The President in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence. If anything, quite the contrary.’ – [Sarah Huckabee Sanders] 6/29/17,” the account tweeted.

The cable news network sent a statement to The Hill highlighting the apparent contrast between the White House statement and the video that Trump shared.

“Clearly, Sarah Huckabee Sanders lied when she said the President had never done so,” a CNN spokesperson said in the statement. “Instead of preparing for his overseas trip, his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, dealing with North Korea and working on his health care bill, he is instead involved in juvenile behavior blowing the dignity of his office.

“We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his,” the statement continued.

Trump shared the video early Sunday morning, continuing his attacks against the news network and the media in general.
