Buildings around the world light up to mark Barcelona attack

Cities around the world lit their buildings in red and yellow on Thursday in solidarity with the people of Spain after a deadly terrorist attack in Barcelona left at least 13 dead and more than 50 injured.

The One World Trade Center in New York City was among the buildings that lit up with the colors of Spain’s flag.

“Tonight we lit the spire of @OneWTC red and yellow in solidarity with the people of Spain,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) wrote on Twitter Thursday night.

In the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, government officials also lit city hall with the colors of Spain’s flag.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower went dark to honor the victims of the attack. 

A van rammed into dozens of people in a popular pedestrian area of the city on Thursday in what authorities are calling a terrorist attack. 

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria took credit for the attack, which Spanish officials are reporting left 50 others injured.

President Trump has condemned the attack and offered help to the country.
