President Trump on Thursday praised federal agencies working on recovery efforts in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico in a series of tweets but ripped the media, saying he wishes the “press would treat fairly.”

Trump started his tweets by praising the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“FEMA & First Responders are doing a GREAT job in Puerto Rico. Massive food & water delivered. Docks & electric grid dead. Locals trying really hard to help but many have lost their homes.”

{mosads}”Military is now on site and I will be there Tuesday,” Trump continued in a subsequent tweet. “Wish press would treat fairly!”

Democrats and critics in the media have bashed Trump for focusing his efforts on attacking professional football players while Puerto Rico is dealing with a humanitarian crisis in the wake of Hurricane Maria, calling for increased federal aid to the suffering island.

The hurricane dealt heavy damage to Puerto Rico’s infrastructure, leaving many without homes, power or clean water to drink.

FEMA has been working with Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló and emergency response teams in the Department of Defense to aid in the crisis.
