Former Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) has taken a new job at a port in southeast Texas, roughly one month after he resigned from Congress amid an ethics investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported Monday that Farenthold will be working with the Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort, where his annual salary will be $160,000.

The port told the Caller-Times that Farenthold will work as its legislative liaison, helping to promote its agenda. He will also work to increase the port’s presence with federal lawmakers and the Trump administration.

“The Board looks forward to the services Blake can provide in assisting the Port with matters in Washington, D.C.,” the organization told the newspaper.

The port is located in Calhoun County, Texas, in the district Farenthold previously represented.

Farenthold resigned last month after previously announcing he would not seek reelection in the wake of reports he used $84,000 in taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment claim.

He has pledged to pay back the $84,000, but has not yet done so.

Farenthold has also pushed back against suggestions from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) that the ex-congressman should foot the bill for the cost of the special election to fill his vacant seat.
