Biden: ‘I may be a white boy, but I can jump’

Vice President Biden joked on Tuesday night that “I may be a white boy, but I can jump.”

The vice president made the remark, an apparent reference to the 1992 film “White Men Can’t Jump,” before turning to the more serious subject of voting rights at a reception hosted at his residence marking African-American History Month.

A number of African-American officials attended the event, including Kevin Johnson, the first black mayor of Sacramento and a former NBA star, to whom Biden directed the comments.

“I told the president, next game, I’ve got him,” the 71-year-old vice president said.

Johnson is a former NBA all-star who played with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns before being elected in 2008.

President Obama has been a longtime player and fan of the game.

He recently gave an interview with TNT ahead of the NBA all-star game in which he debated the legacies of Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
