Bloomberg flying to Israel to prove it’s ‘safe’
Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said he will fly to Tel Aviv Tuesday night “to demonstrate that it is safe to fly in and out of Israel.”
{mosads}Bloomberg announced his plans to fly on El Al, the Israeli airline, after U.S. flights were halted from traveling to Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport for the next 24 hours following a Gaza-launched rocket landing nearby.
In a statement Tuesday published on his website, Bloomberg blasted the travel ban imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration. U.S. “flight restrictions are a mistake that hands Hamas an undeserved victory and should be lifted immediately. I strongly urge the FAA to reverse course and permit US airlines to fly to Israel.”
“Ben Gurion is the best protected airport in the world and El Al flights have been regularly flying in and out of it safely,” he continued.
