Dennis Rodman on Friday ripped Ted Cruz after the Texas senator invoked the NBA all-star while criticizing presidential rival Donald Trump in the CNN Republican debate the previous night.

Rodman was among those eliminated from Trump’s long-running NBC show “Celebrity Apprentice,” but he suggested Cruz could be next on the chopping block:
{mosads}Cruz mentioned the celebrity former basketball player during the debate Thursday night in Houston while drawing a contrast between himself and Trump on the issue of immigration.

Cruz argued that “Donald funded the Gang of Eight” — a reference to lawmakers who pushed the Senate immigration bill in 2013 reviled by those on the right.

“In 2013, when I was leading the fight against the Gang of Eight amnesty bill, where was Donald? He was firing Dennis Rodman on ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ ” Cruz said.

Rodman, who backed Trump’s White House bid last summer, garnered global attention for first visiting North Korea in 2013, the year he was fired on Trump’s show. He later befriended North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
