Trump to Megyn Kelly: ‘I have great respect for you’

Fox News host Megyn Kelly on Monday previewed her highly anticipated interview with Donald Trump, showing a clip of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee praising her.
The Fox anchor appeared on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael,” which broadcast a clip of Trump commenting on Kelly reaching out for a face-to-face meeting recently.

{mosads}“You seemed to stay angry for months. Was that real, or was that strategy?” Kelly is shown asking Trump in the interview preview.

“Well I’m a real person,” Trump responded. “I have great respect for you that you were able to call me and say, ‘Let’s get together, let’s talk.’ To me, I would not have done that.”

Trump and Kelly met privately last month at Trump Tower in New York in a face-to-face brokered by Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes.

Kelly said Monday that she “always wanted to reach out” to Trump amid months of feuding. Trump skipped a January debate hosted by Fox and attended a March debate that Kelly co-moderated without issue before later blasting her and calling her “crazy.”

“We had a good exchange, but the one thing we did not discuss in that hour-long meeting at Trump Tower was anything that had happened between the two of us,” Kelly said.

A previously released clip of the interview airing in prime time on May 17 shows Trump remarking to Kelly of their clash at an August GOP debate that he “wasn’t so fond” of the moderator.
