Baton Rouge killer used alias, left online trail
Gavin Long, the 29-year-old who police say was responsible for killing three Baton Rouge police officers Sunday morning, left an online trail that may hint at his motivation, The Guardian reported.
Long appears to have visited web sites focused on complaints about the treatment of black people by police.
{mosads}A website was registered earlier this year by someone using Long’s name and address, as well as an email address also used by “Cosmo Setepenra”, an alleged radio host and life coach based in Kansas City, Mo.
An author profile for Setepenra described him as a Marine veteran; CBS reported on Sunday that Long was discharged from the Marines in 2010 after reaching the same rank that Setepenra claimed.
In a video posted to YouTube under Setepenra’s name, he compared fighting black oppression to the American revolution.
“… When an African fights back, it’s wrong,” the person says. “You gotta fight back – that’s the only way a bully knows to quit.”
