Melania Trump’s office pushes back on Omarosa claims
First lady Melania Trump’s office pushed back Monday on claims made by former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman in her new book.
Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s spokeswoman, told the Washington Examiner that the two women “rarely, if ever, interacted” during Manigault Newman’s time at the White House.
“It’s disappointing to her that she is lashing out and retaliating in such a self-serving way, especially after all the opportunities given to her by the President,” Grisham said.
{mosads}Manigault Newman’s explosive book contains a number of claims about the first lady, particular in relation to her marriage.
According to excerpts reported by Newsweek, the former “Apprentice” contestant writes that Melania Trump uses her fashion choices to “punish” her husband. She also writes that the first lady cannot wait for Trump’s presidency to be over so that she can divorce him.
The book, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” makes a number of claims about the president, including that Trump used racial slurs during tapings of “The Apprentice.”
The White House has accused Manigault Newman, who was fired earlier this year, of fabricating stories to seek attention and sell books.
The former aide has also revealed that she secretly recorded multiple conversations with Trump and other White House officials.
