Cantor scraps weekly colloquy
The weekly colloquy that typically occurs each week between House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) was scrapped on Thursday.
Cantor and Hoyer usually have a back-and-forth conversation at the end of the last House votes to outline what will be on the agenda for the upcoming week.
{mosads}The majority leader, still reeling from his surprise primary loss Tuesday, left the House chamber quietly at the end of House votes. Hoyer exited the chamber through the Speaker’s Lobby past a horde of reporters.
Cantor has only spoken publicly twice since his defeat: his concession speech Tuesday night and his nationally televised press conference Wednesday afternoon.
Information about next’s week House schedule is expected to be released by the majority leader’s office by close of business Friday.
