Rand Paul to visit Google, Facebook in fundraising trip

{mosads}He blasted his colleagues for holding a hearing last week to examine Apple’s methods for avoiding taxes and said the Senate should apologize to Apple for the “spectacle” of the hearing. 

 

He also introduced legislation last week that would require police to obtain a warrant to access any electronic records held by a third-party — a dramatic expansion of online privacy rights.

In 2012, Paul along with his father, former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), released a manifesto for Internet freedom that decried government attempts to regulate the Internet. 

Democrats and — to a lesser extent — Republicans have long targeted Silicon Valley for fundraising. Employees of Google, Microsoft, IBM and other technology giants were some of the biggest donors to President Obama’s reelection campaign.
