Politicians divided over color of infamous Internet dress

An already polarized Congress is split over a new debate — the colors of a now-infamous dress.

Lawmakers weighed in Thursday night on a Tumblr photo of a dress that quickly became a viral sensation, with much of the public taking firm stances on its hues.

In one camp, are those who say the lacey frock is white and gold. The other side contends the dress is a definite blue and black.

Rep. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) was adamant he knew the truth behind the dress color controversy:

I know three things: 1) the ACA works; 2) climate change is real; 2) that dress is gold and white.

But Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) used the fierce dress back-and-forth to aim a zinger at Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas):

Takano then took matters into his own hands:

Just asked my Legislative Director at 10:30 pm to draft a House resolution tomorrow about the dress being black and blue. AMA.

And finally, former congressman John Dingell got in on the fun with possibly the best reaction of them all:

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) weighed in on the rather pressing matter on Friday, and included a zinger aimed at Senate Democrats:

FACTS: #TheDress is blue & black. Senate Democrats are blocking Security funding to protect president’s #immigration overreach.

Boehner wasn’t the only lawmaker mixing color confusion with politics — so did Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.):
