Rep. Joe Kennedy expecting first child

Rep. Joe Kennedy is about to earn a new title: “Dad.”

The Massachusetts Democrat announced Wednesday in a Facebook post that he and his wife, Lauren, are expecting a baby girl in December.

{mosads}The congressman wrote he “can’t wait to introduce her to Team Kennedy around the holidays.”

While Kennedy says he’s eagerly anticipating the birth of his first child, his dog might not be quite as thrilled: “Only Banjo is slightly suspicious of the whole thing because he can’t quite picture a home (or Congressional office) where a dog isn’t the complete center of attention. But we have a feeling he’ll come around.”

The son of former Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy and grandson of Sen. Bobby Kennedy met Lauren Birchfield at Harvard Law School and they married in 2012.

“Here’s a to a brand new adventure!” Kennedy said.
