‘Real Housewives’ producer dreams of casting Obama, Palin
Paging Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin — if there’s ever a “Real Housewives of Politics,” Andy Cohen wants you.
“If there was a dream cast of politics,” Cohen, the man behind the hit Bravo franchise “Real Housewives” told ITK Thursday at a book signing, “it would be Michelle Obama, Hillary, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and someone like Claire McCaskill.”
McCaskill, the Democratic senator from Missouri, would “be like the ‘normal one’” according to “The Andy Cohen Diaries” author, who appeared before a standing-room-only crowd at Room & Board in Washington.
{mosads}The “Watch What Happens Live” host then took a swipe at Palin and Bachmann, Minnesota’s former GOP House member who retired from Congress earlier this year.
“I would put two lunatics in there, of course, in the form of Palin and Bachmann,” Cohen said to laughs from the audience. “I mean, they’re bigger lunatics — name a housewife that’s a bigger lunatic than either of them,” he exclaimed to fans at the event.
Cohen expressed frustration with the 2016 White House race, telling his moderator, Independent Journal Review’s Kate Bennett, that he finds it “exhausting.”
“I can’t believe that this is the election cycle,” Cohen said. “It’s like how Christmas now comes in September, it’s the same thing.”
The 47-year-old TV personality added, “I think the Republican debate, you’re talking about whether you’re going to be able to say ‘Merry Christmas’ when I’m president, I don’t know. What do I think? I think I’m exhausted already.”
But Cohen did say he’d like to book the current GOP front-runner to appear on his “Watch What Happens Live” couch.
“I would love to have Donald Trump on my show,” Cohen exclaimed. “I mean, he’s very orange and getting oranger by the day. And he’s a clown.”
Those qualities, Cohen quipped, would make Trump “a perfect guest on my show. He’ll do and say anything. Those are the kinds of people I love.”
