De Niro rep denies Trump is ‘banned’ from actor’s restaurant

A representative for actor Robert De Niro says that President Trump is not banned from Nobu, the actor’s high-end fusion restaurant chain. 

The spokesperson told the The Hollywood Reporter that despite a report this week in The Daily Mail that the actor said he would never allow the former reality TV star through its doors, “no one is banned” at the restaurant.

“Bob has not banned anyone from dining at Nobu,” the agent said. “I know what they wrote. No one is banned.” {mosads}

White House deputy spokesman Hogan Gidley, responding to reports that Trump had been banned from Nobu, said the president gets “great dinners” at the White House and could always “go to one of his many properties around the country and globe” when he feels like eating out.

“I don’t think president is planning on attending a dinner at Nobu anytime soon,” Gidley said on the Fox Business Network. “Look, Hollywood people grandstand all the time.”

While De Niro is one of Hollywood’s most vocal critics of Trump and has been playing special counsel Robert Mueller on “Saturday Night Live,” his restaurant co-owner, chef Nobu Matsuhisa, reportedly joked that he would love Trump to visit. 

“It’s my dream for Trump to sit next to Bob. To make them sushi!” the Japanese chef told the Daily Mail.

Trump once notably dined at Nobu in 2013 in Moscow. A Nobu opened in Washington, D.C., last year, but Trump has yet to eat at a D.C. restaurant he doesn’t own.
