Jon Stewart to go live on ‘The Daily Show’ following presidential debates

Jon Stewart will take to the airwaves live after this year’s pair of scheduled presidential debates, hosting “The Daily Show” immediately following the face-off between President Biden and former President Trump.

The comedian will host the first live, post-debate show — part of its “Indecision 2024” election coverage — on June 27 after the debate hosted by CNN in Atlanta, Comedy Central announced Tuesday. A second live 11 p.m. “Daily Show” is scheduled following the second debate between Biden and Trump on Sep. 10. 

Stewart, who had stepped down from “The Daily Show” in 2015 after 16 years, returned to his old stomping grounds in February, sitting at the anchor desk on the long-running program on Monday nights. The rest of the week is filled by a rotating line-up of other hosts.

Comedy Central has since touted the late-night show’s “tremendous growth,” saying that Stewart’s return secured “the show’s highest ratings since 2015.”

In April, “The Daily Show” announced it would broadcast from both the Democratic and Republican national conventions this summer.
