Trump tweets: ‘Seriously considering’ Carson for HUD
President-elect Donald Trump is opening up on social media about his Cabinet deliberations, tweeting that he is considering Ben Carson to be his secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“I am seriously considering Dr. Ben Carson as the head of HUD. I’ve gotten to know him well–he’s a greatly talented person who loves people!” Trump tweeted Tuesday.

{mosads}Carson competed with Trump for the GOP presidential nomination but ultimately endorsed him and served as a prominent backer. Carson campaign manager and close friend Armstrong Williams last week told The Hill that the retired neurosurgeon was not interested in serving as Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services.
“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency,” Williams said at the time.
Williams said last week that Carson was not offered a specific role in the future Trump administration “but everything was open to him.”
