• The Internet Association named Ellen Schrantz as its director of government affairs and counsel. She currently serves as counsel to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and helped to establish congressional caucuses on the “Internet of Things” and the sharing economy. Schrantz has also worked on the House Oversight and Government
Reform Committee.
• The American Gaming Association hired Eloy Martinez to serve as senior director of government relations. He most recently worked as the staff director for the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee under Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.). The group has also brought on former Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.), who owns public affairs shop R&R Resources Plus, as a strategic communications consultant. He will specialize in corporate social responsibility efforts such as diversity and workforce development.
{mosads}• American Council of Life Insurers promoted several of its staff members, including Maurice Perkins, who will now lead the group’s outreach to Capitol Hill and the executive branch. Alane Dent, who previously served as vice president of federal relations, taxes and retirement security, will help Perkins in leading the advocacy team as the vice president and deputy of federal relations.
• Derrick White has been named a senior vice president at Forbes-Tate He most recently served as a lobbyist at the Biotechnology Industry Organization and before that worked at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. White also served in the office of Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), where he specialized in healthcare and trade issues and has been involved in several Senate campaigns.
• Capitol Tax Partners hired Jake Triolo, legislative director and tax counsel to Rep. Todd Young (R-Ind.), as a partner. Triolo also worked as a Republican staff member of the Senate Small Business Committee and as an aide to former Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.).
• Ambassador Daniel Feldman, who most recently worked as the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the State Department, has become a partner at Akin Gump. He has experience in the private sector, co-chairing the corporate social responsibility practice at Foley Hoag. He also advised John Kerry in his 2004 presidential campaign and Al Gore during his run in 2000. During the Clinton administration, he served on the National Security Council and was responsible for human rights issues.
