Mergers & Innovation: Measuring Performance and Patient Care
The recent spate of mergers, acquisitions and innovation taking place across the American health care landscape, along with new entrants into the delivery of care, are poised to create a significant shift in the delivery of patient care.
In 2017, mergers and acquisitions activity rose 13 percent, with more deals worth $1 billion or more being announced than in any prior year. According to a recent Capital One Healthcare study, that momentum is expected to continue in 2018, as approximately half of middle-market health care executives make plans to merge or acquire businesses.
Are there opportunities to use mergers and acquisitions to improve the quality, accuracy and efficiency of patient care? How can we measure the performance of health care innovation? What is the role of Congress in evaluating the impact to the health care system brought by these changes?
The Hill will gather key policymakers, health care stakeholders, market experts and patient advocates for a conversation on the impact of mergers and acquisitions on every aspect of the American health care ecosystem.
