White House unhappy with ‘SNL’ Spicer sketch: report

The “Saturday Night Live” spoof of White House press secretary Sean Spicer hit a nerve with the White House spokesman and President Trump, according to a new report.

“Trump doesn’t like his people to look weak,” a top Trump donor told Politico two days after Melissa McCarthy portrayed an aggressive Spicer firing insults at journalists, chowing down on gum and busting out a super soaker during a press briefing.

But Trump was most bothered by the fact that Spicer was portrayed by a woman, according to the Politico report.

{mosads}Spicer tried to laugh off the spoof, even offering some advice for McCarthy’s impression on Sunday.

He told Extra that he thought the show was “funny” but felt McCarthy “could dial back” — specifically that she “needs to slow down on the gum chewing; way too many pieces in there.”

When asked again about his reaction to the “SNL” skit by Politico, Spicer said, “It doesn’t really matter what I think.”

Spicer has tried to build a relationship with reporters after a contentious first few days behind the lectern that were mired in inaccurate details after he denounced reports about Trump’s inauguration attendance.

According to Politico, sources said Spicer will likely try to move past the “SNL” tension with humor at the next press briefing.
