Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez slammed the Trump administration on Wednesday, saying President Trump’s proposed tax cuts and planned budget are “morally bankrupt” because they are designed to benefit the wealthy.

“It is a budget that is morally bankrupt,” Perez told the audience. “And you propose to eliminate funding for Meals on Wheels, and then today you announce a tax cut that will benefit the wealthiest of the wealthy. Budgets are moral documents my friend, and that budget is morally bankrupt.”

“[T]hey call it a ‘skinny budget.’ I think of another word with ’S’ that I won’t use. It is a shoddy budget,” he added.

Perez’s comments at the National Action Network came just before Trump was expected to release outlines of his new tax plan, which the president claims will give Americans a tax cut that is larger than “any tax cut ever.”

{mosads}Perez on Wednesday went after Trump on a range of issues, saying the president has failed to uphold his campaign promises as he nears his first 100 days in office.

Perez said he would use two words to describe Trump’s first 100 days in office: “chaos and carnage.” He added that “moral compass” is not a term he would use to describe Trump’s administration so far.

Perez said Trump’s efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare would tear out a “lifeline” for Americans across the country.

Perez also said administration officials haven’t fought for voter access, especially for minorities, like their predecessors did.

“Civil rights is indeed the unfinished business of America,” Perez told the crowd.

“We should be fighting to make it easier to vote, not harder to vote,” he said, slamming Republican lawmakers.

Perez also praised Eric Holder — a former attorney general under President Obama — for his efforts on the voting front, saying Holder had a “moral compass.”
