President Trump could offer specific financial penalties against China this week, according to a report by Politico.

The president’s top advisers are considering a range of economic measures including economic sanctions, trade restrictions or other measures, two administration officials told the news outlet.

Trump over the weekend went on Twitter to express his disappointment with China, which he says should be doing more to control North Korea.

The president has also repeatedly warned that he’d take a tougher economic line with China, as he accuses past U.S. leaders of being weak and allowing a trade deficit with Beijing to rise.

{mosads}”I am very disappointed in China,” Trump tweeted on Sunday.

“Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do nothing for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!” Trump said.

It’s unclear what measures Trump could seek to impose on China, the largest holder of U.S. debt.

Steel tariffs have been repeatedly floated, but officials told Politico this is not the only thing being discussed.

A administration official did not outrightly dismiss or confirm the White House is close to a plan for China.

“[W]e have no announcements at this time,” the official told The Hill in an email.
