Trump hits NFL over continued protests: ‘No leadership’
President Trump went after the NFL in an early morning tweet as players continue to kneel during the national anthem.
“Two dozen NFL players continue to kneel during the National Anthem, showing total disrespect to our Flag & Country,” Trump tweeted on Monday.
“No leadership in NFL!”

{mosads}Trump in recent weeks has been attacking NFL players who kneel in protest during the national anthem, which began last season when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled to protest police brutality against minorities.
On Sunday, some players on the 49ers kneeled during the national anthem ahead of their game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Trump last week urged supporters to sign a petition in support of standing during the national anthem.
“The president has asked for a list of supporters who stand for the national anthem. Add your name below to show your patriotism and support,” says the petition by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a fundraising group.
The petition came days after NFL team owners, executives and players met in New York, where they decided that the league would not implement a rule forcing players to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Trump has in the past pushed for the league to implement a rule requiring players to stand during the anthem.
