President Trump tweeted a similar message on Friday.
Many reports of peaceful protests by Iranian citizens fed up with regime’s corruption & its squandering of the nation’s wealth to fund terrorism abroad. Iranian govt should respect their people’s rights, including right to express themselves. The world is watching! #IranProtests

At least two people have reportedly been killed in the protests, the first deaths since the demonstrations began on Friday.
The protests were initially centered on corruption, the high cost of food and Iran’s participation in the Syrian and Yemeni wars.
However, the protests have since shifted toward an anti-government focus.
