Former Trump aide Dina Powell joins Harvard as senior fellow

Former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell will be joining Harvard University as a non-resident senior fellow, the university announced on Monday.

Powell earlier in the year resigned from her post in the White House, where she helped drive much of the Trump administration’s Middle East policy.

She played a critical role in the negotiations to free an American activist from Egyptian prison and was once rumored to replace Reince Priebus as chief of staff.

{mosads}During her time in the White House, she was known to be allied with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, and sparred with the nationalist wing of the administration led by then-chief strategist Stephen Bannon.

As a senior fellow, Powell will contribute to the Future of Diplomacy Project at the Center for Science and International Affairs, a wing of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, the university said.

“Powell will share her expertise on American foreign policy, the Middle East, and international politics with Kennedy School students, faculty, and fellows in seminars, study groups, and meetings on campus during the coming year,” Harvard said in a statement. “She will contribute to the Future of Diplomacy Project’s objective of advancing the critical importance of diplomacy, addressing national security threats, and focusing on negotiations in international politics today.”

Powell served in various roles for the George W. Bush White House and worked at Goldman Sachs for more than a decade prior to joining the Trump administration.
